Sedation Dentistry Fort Myers, FL

Pediatric and Adult Anesthesia

Before anesthesia existed as a Medical or Dental Specialty, the first public demonstration of anesthesia was conducted by Dr. William Thomas Green Morton, a Boston oral surgeon, at the Massachusetts General Hospital on October 16, 1846. During this demonstration, Dr. John Warren excised a facial lesion from a patient anesthetized by Dr. Morton in a hall that later became known as the Ether Dome.

Many patients today choose IV sedation for their oral surgery operations. Like the legacy of the Ether Dome, Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons continue to be recognized as leaders in the safe and effective delivery of office-based ambulatory anesthesia including local anesthesia, conscious sedation, intravenous sedation, and general anesthesia. Dr. Alcalde is board-certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery and is licensed to administer office anesthesia to provide for the comfort and safety of our patients.
